Pixar Reveals Exciting Movie Slate for the Coming Years
Pixar has officially laid out its movie plans for the next few years, and fans have a lot to look forward to.
The news came during Disney’s Destination D23 event, where updates were shared on several big projects, including Hoppers, Toy Story 5, and Gatto. The studio also confirmed that Incredibles 3 and Coco 2 are on the way.

The first film on the slate is Hoppers, which is set to release on March 6, 2026. Written and directed by Daniel Chong, the story follows a teenager named Mabel, played by Piper Curda, who has her mind transferred into a robotic beaver in order to communicate with animals. With her new form, she tries to stop a company from destroying a forest and its wildlife. Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm are also part of the cast, voicing King George and Mayor Jerry.
Pixar began developing the project in 2020, and it was announced as Hoppers in 2024.
Just a few months later, on June 19, 2026, audiences will see the return of Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the gang in Toy Story 5.
Andrew Stanton is directing and writing the film, with Jessica Choi producing. The cast includes Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and Tony Hale, who are joined by newcomers Anna Faris, Ernie Hudson, and Conan O’Brien. Allen teased earlier this year that Jessie will be a big part of the story, saying, “I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie. Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyear. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”
Pixar will follow up with Gatto in June 2027. The film is being directed by Enrico Casarosa and will focus on Nero, a character who owes a debt to a feline mob boss and has to form an unlikely friendship in order to find his purpose.
The cast has not yet been revealed, though Ismail Elsene is confirmed to voice a character named Lauren. The project was first announced at the Annecy Animation Festival in 2025.
Fans of Pixar’s superhero family can also celebrate, because Incredibles 3 is happening. Brad Bird, who directed the first two films, will be back as writer and executive producer, though directing duties will go to Peter Sohn this time. Bird said in the past that many ideas were left out of Incredibles 2 because of time, hinting that there was plenty of material for another story. “There were a lot of ideas that we had on this film that could be [used]… whether it’s another Incredibles film, or something else,” Bird said when the second film was released. Samuel L. Jackson and Sophia Bush have both expressed interest in reprising their roles.
Lastly, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Coco 2 is also in development. The sequel will bring back Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina as director and co-director, with Mark Nielsen producing. While no release date has been confirmed, Pixar has made it clear that the project is moving forward.
With original stories like Hoppers and Gatto alongside sequels to some of Pixar’s most beloved films, the next few years are shaping up to be an exciting time for animation fans.
