Celebrity confessions about brushes with the unexplained have become something of a recurring fascination for entertainment audiences, especially when they come from familiar, grounded stars not typically associated with paranormal claims. Whoopi Goldberg and Goldie Hawn have both made headlines in recent years for sharing their own alleged encounters, adding fuel to a broader cultural conversation around UFOs and government transparency.

Sandra Bullock has spent decades building a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most down-to-earth leading ladies, known for grounded performances in films like “The Blind Side” and “Miss Congeniality.” That reputation made her latest revelation feel especially unexpected to fans tuning in for what was otherwise a lighthearted promotional appearance.

Speaking on Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, Bullock revealed she believes she’s personally witnessed extraterrestrial activity, declaring, “There are alien ships flying around the sky. I have seen them.”

Bullock didn’t stop at the initial claim, going on to detail exactly when and where the sighting took place. The 62-year-old actress explained that the encounter happened after a day of filming in Saint Martin, when a group headed to the beach once production wrapped for the day, according to Reality Tea.

According to her account, Bullock first spotted what she assumed was a satellite, a single small point of light in the sky. From there, she described watching additional lights arrive from different directions until five of them eventually converged together, before suddenly taking off across the sky in an instant.

Bullock was candid about the circumstances surrounding the sighting, noting she’d had “a bit of a buzz” from a few drinks at the time, though she maintained that another person present with her also witnessed the same event. That detail adds a layer of corroboration to her account, even as she acknowledged the setting wasn’t exactly a controlled scientific observation.

What seemed to matter most to Bullock wasn’t just the sighting itself, but the sense of relief that came later when government UFO files became public. She explained that those disclosures made her feel “vindicated,” according to Reality Tea, adding that they helped her feel less “insane” about what she’d witnessed years earlier.

That sentiment reflects a broader shift in how seriously UFO sightings have been treated in recent years, as U.S. government agencies have released increasing amounts of previously classified material related to unidentified aerial phenomena. For someone like Bullock, who had been carrying an unexplained personal experience for years, that kind of official acknowledgment appears to have offered genuine emotional closure.

Bullock joins a small but notable group of celebrities who have publicly shared similar beliefs about extraterrestrial life in recent years. “The View” moderator Whoopi Goldberg has made comparable comments on multiple occasions, telling Kumail Nanjiani in 2024 that aliens are “already here” and “watching us,” and reiterating in June that “they have been among us for a very long time,” according to Reality Tea.

Bullock’s UFO revelation arrives as she’s actively promoting “Practical Magic 2,” which is set to hit theaters September 10. Whether intentional or not, the timing has given her story an extra push of visibility as press interest in the film’s release continues to build.
