Prime Video Renews Fan-Favorite Adult Animated Series for Season 6 Before Anyone Expected
Prime Video’s hit adult animated superhero series Invincible is staying in action for years to come. The show has officially been renewed for Season 6, giving fans confirmation that the story will continue even before Season 5 arrives in 2027.
The announcement was made during the Prime Video Studio Focus panel at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where Invincible co-creator Robert Kirkman appeared to discuss the future of the series. According to Skybound Entertainment, the company behind the franchise, the renewal will make Invincible one of the longest-running animated original series on a streaming platform.
The early Season 6 renewal is another major achievement for the animated series, which first premiered on Prime Video in 2021. Since then, Invincible has built a large global audience and has become one of the platform’s most successful original animated shows.
The series is based on the comic book created by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, with Ryan Ottley later joining as a contributing creator. The comic ran for 15 years through Image Comics and included 146 issues, selling more than 6 million copies worldwide.
The animated adaptation has continued to grow in popularity, with episodes available in more than 240 countries and territories. Season 4, which premiered in March, became the most-watched season of the series so far and earned another perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Shortly after the latest season ended, the Invincible franchise expanded beyond television with the release of Invincible VS, a video game based on the superhero universe. According to Skybound, the game attracted more than 1 million players within its first two weeks.
Kirkman shared his excitement about the show’s future and credited both fans and the creative team for the series’ continued success.

“One of the biggest rewards of building Invincible over the years has been witnessing how new audiences continue to connect with these characters and this world, almost 25 years after its creation,” Kirkman said.
He also praised the people working behind the scenes and teased that there is still plenty of story left to explore.
“There’s still so much story left to tell, and I can’t wait for fans to see what’s ahead in seasons 5, 6 and beyond,” Kirkman added.
Skybound Entertainment CEO David Alpert also spoke about the importance of building franchises that can expand across different forms of entertainment. He explained that Invincible’s success comes from having a strong story that works in multiple areas, including comics, television, and video games.
“We founded Skybound on the idea of investing in original stories with the creative depth and flexibility to thrive across every medium,” Alpert said.
The series features a major voice cast, including Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson/Invincible, along with Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Gillian Jacobs, Seth Rogen, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Aaron Paul, and many other well-known actors.
Invincible is produced by Skybound Animation, with Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Simon Racioppa, Margaret M. Dean, Cory Walker, Dan Duncan, Shaun O’Neill, Catherine Winder, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg serving as executive producers.
More details about Seasons 5 and 6, including release information and story details, will be announced at a later date. For now, fans can look forward to more superhero chaos, battles, and surprises as Invincible continues its record-breaking run on Prime Video.
