Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently stole the spotlight at a special screening event for her latest film, The Bluff, hosted by AGBO and Prime Video. Priyanka takes on the role of Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden, a former pirate forced to confront her violent past to protect her family. This role pushed me to explore intensity and strength in a way I haven’t before, she said, reflecting on the demanding nature of the character.
The Bluff is set in the 19th-century Cayman Islands and follows Ercell as she defends her home and loved ones when her former captain, played by Urban, returns seeking revenge. The cast also includes Temuera Morrison, Ismael Cruz Córdova, and Safia Oakley-Green. Produced in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, the film promises gritty action, hard-R combat scenes, and intricate tactical sequences.
This year has been a busy one for Priyanka. She recently finished filming the second season of the spy thriller Citadel, which will return to Prime Video later this year. She also has upcoming projects like the action-comedy Heads of State with John Cena and Idris Elba, and Bollywood drama Jee Le Zaraa, co-starring Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. Between producing through her company Purple Pebble Pictures and taking on challenging roles, she’s balancing both business and acting with ease.
Karl Urban, meanwhile, is preparing for the conclusion of The Boys this April. Transitioning from his role as Billy Butcher to Captain Connor in The Bluff gives him a chance to showcase a more traditional villain, blending menace with charisma.
