Rami Malek has put an end to rumors about a possible return of the hit series Mr. Robot. The show, created by Sam Esmail, followed the life of Elliot Alderson, a cyber-security expert played by Malek, who becomes involved with the hacker group fsociety led by the mysterious Mr. Robot, portrayed by Christian Slater.

Over its four-season run, the series explored the aftermath of the group’s five/nine hack and the tension between Elliot and Mr. Robot.

Since the show concluded in December 2019, fans have wondered if there might be a reboot or continuation of Elliot’s story. Esmail has previously said that the story was complete. Malek confirmed this during a recent appearance at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles panel while discussing his new film, Nuremberg, directed by James Vanderbilt.

“Sam and I just talked about working together again, but that’s it,” Malek said. When asked if this could mean another Mr. Robot series, he was firm: “No.”

Even though the series remains influential and has a strong fan following, both Malek and Esmail seem committed to moving on to other projects. While fans might be disappointed, it’s clear that Elliot Alderson’s story has reached its conclusion.
