‘Reacher’ Drops Down Prime Video’s Charts as Its Own Spinoff and New Rivals Move In
For most of the past two months, ‘Reacher‘ has been the show to beat on Prime Video. Alan Ritchson’s towering ex-military cop has become one of the streamer’s biggest draws, and every new season arrives with an expectation of chart domination. The franchise has now stretched from a single series into a growing universe.
That expansion has changed the dynamics of the charts. When ‘Reacher’ season 4 premiered on August 12 with three episodes, followed by weekly releases through a September 16 finale, it routinely claimed the top spot on Prime Video’s lists. Then came the franchise’s first spinoff, and things began to shift.
According to data from FlixPatrol, ‘Reacher’ is currently the 4th most-watched project on Prime Video’s Top 10 Overall in the United States. It’s a notable slide for a series that spent weeks at or near the summit. The drop reflects a mix of competition from within the franchise and a wave of fresh arrivals.

The main factor is ‘Neagley’, the first ‘Reacher’ spinoff, which launched with all eight episodes on September 16, the same day as the season 4 finale. Starring Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, the series follows the former military protégé of Jack Reacher as a private investigator in Chicago. Ritchson makes a guest appearance as Reacher, and the show was developed by Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton.
Within days, ‘Neagley’ overtook its parent show for the number one spot. ‘Reacher’ dropped to second place for a time, still holding firm against both movies and TV shows. Critics have been kind to the spinoff too, with a Rotten Tomatoes score around 92% to 93%.
The latest movement comes from new releases. The movie ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t’ now ranks second on the overall chart, while Mike Flanagan’s ‘Carrie’ series has taken third place. Both arrived on Prime Video on October 2.
On the TV-only chart, the picture is similar. ‘Neagley’ sits in first place, ‘Carrie’ is in second, and ‘Reacher’ has moved to third. The slide is gradual rather than dramatic, but it marks a clear change from the dominant run of late summer.
It’s important to put the drop in perspective. A show that has been out for weeks, with its season finished, will naturally lose ground to fresh content. ‘Reacher’ has also been battling a mix of competition for some time, including a romance movie that briefly knocked it off the top in September.
The franchise as a whole remains in strong shape. The previous season of ‘Reacher’ reached 54.6 million viewers globally in its first 19 days, and the series has been renewed for a fifth season, which will adapt Lee Child’s novel ‘Make Me’. Production on that season is ongoing, and it’s projected to arrive sometime in 2027.

Interest in the wider Jack Reacher brand has also spread to older titles. The 2012 movie ‘Jack Reacher’ recently climbed Prime Video’s movie charts, and its sequel ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ has been rising too. Recent reports also point to renewal news for both ‘Reacher’ and ‘Neagley’, suggesting Amazon sees long-term value in the universe.
That doesn’t mean everything has been smooth. Season 4 holds a more modest audience score on Rotten Tomatoes than earlier seasons, which some outlets have noted is the lowest for any Prime Video series so far. Still, the critical response remains strongly positive.

If anything, the shuffling of the charts is a sign of a healthy franchise. Having two ‘Reacher’ titles near the top of the same list is the kind of problem most streaming services would love to have. A slip to 4th place barely dents the bigger picture.
Prime Video also has an incentive to keep the momentum going. Between a spinoff, a renewed flagship series and renewed interest in the older films, the property is being treated as a long-term pillar. Viewers have plenty to watch while waiting for the next season.
Do you think ‘Neagley’ could eventually become the biggest attraction in the ‘Reacher’ universe?
