‘Reacher’ Season 4 Gets Its Rotten Tomatoes Score, Here’s What Critics Are Saying
Reacher Season 4 has arrived with a strong early response from critics, giving fans another reason to look forward to the show’s return. The new season currently has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes from its first nine critic reviews, although that number could change as more reviews are added. There is also no audience score yet.
Season 4 premieres on Prime Video on August 12, 2026, with the first three episodes arriving at once before the remaining episodes are released weekly. The new story is based on Lee Child’s 2009 novel Gone Tomorrow and moves Jack Reacher into a new setting in Philadelphia.
The early reviews suggest that the show is still delivering the mix of mystery, action and dry humor that fans have come to expect. Screen Rant’s Craig Elvy gave the season 8/10 and praised the way it handles its action scenes. He described Season 4 as “a razor-sharp scalpel,” suggesting that the new season takes a more careful approach to its set pieces than the previous season.
RogerEbert.com’s Sherin Nicole was also positive about the new episodes. Her review says the season should appeal to viewers who enjoy twisty action thrillers with plenty of violence, charm and humor. The review’s overall message is simple: if that combination sounds like your kind of television, Season 4 should be an easy choice.
The Seattle Times was equally impressed. Critic Dominic Baez noted that the new season gives viewers more of what they already enjoy about Reacher. While the series continues to follow a familiar formula, Baez said he has been waiting for that formula to start feeling tired, but “it hasn’t happened yet.”
Radio Times gave the season a perfect 5/5, with critic Jack Seale highlighting two of the show’s biggest attractions: Reacher’s dry wit and its extreme violence. That combination has become a major part of the series’ identity.
Other critics also praised Alan Ritchson’s performance as Jack Reacher. The Daily Beast’s Nick Schager called the character’s bravery, intelligence and physical strength the show’s main attraction. Polygon’s Terry Terrones said Season 4 finds new ways to keep Reacher interesting while still holding on to what made the character so entertaining.
CBR’s Jamie Parker also gave the season an 8/10, praising its fast pace and action. The review described the new season as another strong example of classic Reacher action.
The early response is especially notable because the previous seasons have already performed well with critics. Rotten Tomatoes currently lists the series overall at 96%, based on 164 reviews.
With Season 4 arriving on August 12, the early reviews suggest that Reacher has once again found a way to give viewers the action they expect while adding a new mystery to keep things moving. The perfect early Rotten Tomatoes score may change as more critics weigh in, but for now, Season 4 is off to a very strong start.
