‘Reacher’ Spinoff ‘Neagley’ Drops First Trailer, and Frances Neagley Is About to Uncover a Cult

The ‘Reacher’ universe has always had one constant fixture beyond Alan Ritchson’s towering title character, and that’s Frances Neagley. As the only character besides Ritchson’s Jack Reacher to appear in every single season of the hit Prime Video series, Neagley has quietly become the franchise’s most trusted secondary player, someone fans have grown to root for just as fiercely as they root for Reacher himself.

That loyalty is finally being rewarded with a series of her own. Maria Sten, who has played Neagley since the show’s second season, is stepping into the spotlight for a standalone spinoff that expands the ‘Reacher’ universe beyond its central hero for the first time.

Prime Video has now released the official poster and full trailer for “Neagley,” confirming the show will debut with all eight episodes on September 16, arriving the same day as the Season 4 finale of “Reacher” itself. The timing positions the spinoff as a direct continuation of the momentum built by the flagship series rather than a separate, disconnected launch.

The trailer opens with Ritchson’s Reacher helping Neagley take down a knife-wielding suspect, teasing the easy trust between the two former Army colleagues before Neagley strikes out entirely on her own. According to the official logline, Neagley is a private investigator in Chicago and former protégé of Reacher within the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit, and the story kicks into gear when a friend from her past is killed in what’s initially ruled an accident.

Refusing to accept the official explanation, Neagley uses everything she learned during her military service and her years working alongside Reacher to dig into the death herself. That investigation pulls her toward a farm that employs recovering addicts and unhoused individuals, run by a charismatic leader played by “Justified” alum Damon Herriman, who the trailer strongly hints is running something far more sinister than a rehabilitation program.

The rest of the ensemble cast includes Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley, Adeline Rudolph as Renee Birdwhistle, Jasper Jones as Keno, and Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow, rounding out a supporting cast built to give Neagley her own distinct world separate from Reacher’s usual orbit. The footage leans heavily into hand-to-hand combat and investigative tension, striking a tone that feels consistent with the flagship series while carving out room for Neagley’s specific skill set as a former special investigator.

Behind the scenes, the series comes from “Reacher” showrunner Nick Santora, who developed it alongside Nicholas Wootton, with the two serving as co-showrunners and executive producers. Lee Child, whose novels form the foundation of the “Reacher” franchise, is also attached as an executive producer, alongside Don Granger, Sam Hill, Adam Higgs, and Lisa Kussner, with Hill directing the first two episodes.

The trailer’s release comes at a particularly active moment for the franchise, arriving right alongside the August 12 premiere of “Reacher” Season 4, which kicks off with three episodes before continuing weekly. That overlap sets up a steady stream of content for fans over the coming weeks, culminating in “Neagley’s” full-season drop right as the current “Reacher” season wraps.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, “Neagley” will roll out globally across more than 240 countries and territories, giving the franchise its widest simultaneous footprint yet.
