Regina Hall, 55, Brings Sultry Sophistication in Custom Cong Tri Look That Redefines Red Carpet Allure at the Actor Awards
Regina Hall stepped onto the red carpet at the Actor Awards in a custom look by Cong Tri as she celebrated a big night for her latest film One Battle After Another.
The actress attended the ceremony as both a nominee and a presenter. Hall joined her castmates as their film competed for Best Ensemble in a Motion Picture. She was also scheduled to take the stage to present one of the evening’s awards.
Hall plays Deandra in the film, a member of a militant group called the French 75. Even though she is known for comedy, she explained that this role was very different from what people expect from her.

“Actually, I’m the one person that was not funny, ever,” she said while speaking about the project. In an interview with the New York Times, Hall shared why she enjoys working on movies that leave a lasting impression. “What I enjoy about a film like this is that people might walk away and talk about it,” she said.
She explained that she likes when a story stays with viewers instead of being forgotten right after they leave the theater. “Sometimes I watch a movie and I don’t even think about it after I leave. But I think anything that could provoke discussion and self-reflection is great. It’s also incredibly entertaining.”
Hall even joked about one of the film’s action scenes. “I walked away and was like, ‘Gosh. How did he make a car chase exciting with three cars and two of them are slow as [expletive]?’”
For the awards night, Hall wore a structured gown designed especially for her by Cong Tri. Photos from Getty Images showed the dress featured a peplum detail that shaped the silhouette. She completed the look with jewelry from Forever Diamonds, shoes by Aquazzura, and a Tyler Ellis clutch.
This was Hall’s first time attending the Actor Awards, which were previously known as the SAG Awards.
Outside of acting, Hall has also spoken openly about style and representation. In a past interview with Essence in 2022, she talked about the influence of Black women in fashion. “That’s hard to say because we’re so influential in fashion and style,” she said. She explained that Black women have long shaped trends, even when they were not included in the spaces where fashion decisions were made.
“We always have been, even when we weren’t invited to the party,” she said. Hall added that it is exciting to see more designers and creatives from diverse backgrounds getting recognition today. “It’s great that we see more faces behind the scenes doing designs; that is so exciting to me.”
Her appearance at the Actor Awards reflected that message. She showed up supporting her film while also wearing a look created by a designer whose work stands out on the global stage.
Hall continues to balance strong acting choices with thoughtful conversations about culture and style. Her presence at the event felt meaningful beyond just fashion. What do you think about her look and her role in One Battle After Another? Share your thoughts in the comments.
