Release Window for ‘Black Panther 3’ Has Been Set
Marvel Studios has announced a release window for Black Panther 3, expected to arrive in 2028. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is focused on completing Phase 6, the studio is already working on projects beyond The Multiverse Saga.
Director Ryan Coogler spoke about the film and his plans for the future in an interview with the New York Times.
When asked about his career after the Marvel sequel, he said, “To be honest with you, yes. The image I get is a green meadow with Bay Area fog on it, and it’s dawn. That’s what I see after that movie, because it feels like open land, open opportunity.” He also shared his excitement for the project, adding, “I’m so fired up about that movie, bro.”
Letitia Wright, who will become the new Black Panther as Shuri, is confirmed to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. When asked about Black Panther 3, Wright admitted she had “no clue” about the plans for the next film.
Discussions about a third Black Panther film have been ongoing for several years. In late 2022, Coogler and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reportedly talked about the possibility of a third installment. By early 2023, Wright said the cast and Coogler needed “a little bit of a break… to regroup” before starting work on the new movie.
By November 2024, Coogler had spoken with Denzel Washington about a role in the film. In December, producer Nate Moore announced he would leave Marvel Studios in March to work on other projects but would return to help produce Black Panther 3. Coogler confirmed Washington’s casting in June and officially announced in November that the film would be his next project, with development now underway.
