Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World‘ is barreling toward the back half of its Recapture Arc, and fans tracking Subaru Natsuki’s latest nightmare inside the Pleiades Watchtower want to know exactly when the next chapter drops. Season 4 has kept a strict weekly rhythm since its second cour began, and episode 16 continues that pattern as the fight against the Sin Archbishops of Gluttony intensifies.

Between Reid Astrea’s true identity, Shaula’s scorpion rampages and the ongoing search for a way to save Rem, this season has given the fandom plenty to dissect every single week. Here is everything currently known about when ‘Re:Zero’ season 4 episode 16 releases, where to stream it, and what the preview suggests is coming next.

‘Re:Zero’ Season 4 Episode 16 Release Date and Time

‘Re:Zero’ season 4 is split into two cours, with the first 11 episodes making up the Loss Arc that ran from April through June 2026, and the remaining eight episodes forming the Recapture Arc, which began airing on August 12, 2026. The season consists of 19 episodes total divided into these two arcs.

Since the Recapture Arc premiere, new episodes have released weekly. The season runs on Wednesdays, with episodes airing first on AT-X at 22:00 JST before streaming internationally the same day, subtitled and dubbed.

Following that schedule from the August 12 premiere of episode 12, episode 16 lines up for release on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Japan, with the international simulcast following shortly after depending on time zone.

Fans should note that AT-X also airs repeat broadcasts throughout the week, so anyone spotting the show on a Friday or Tuesday listing is not looking at a new episode. The channel runs two repeat broadcasts weekly, on Fridays at 10:00 and Tuesdays at 16:00 JST, meaning a Tuesday listing is simply last week’s episode rather than a preview of the next one.

Where to Watch ‘Re:Zero’ Season 4?

International viewers have a clear home for the series this season. The series has been streamed by Crunchyroll outside Asia, and that has remained true throughout the Recapture Arc’s rollout. Crunchyroll is confirmed as the platform streaming the anime’s fourth season.

Viewers in Asia have additional options beyond Crunchyroll. Fans in Asia can also watch new episodes on Muse Asia, Prime Video, and Bilibili. This spread across multiple regional platforms has made it easier for the global fanbase to stay on the same weekly schedule without falling behind on the story.

New episodes typically drop with both subtitles and an English dub available the same day, which has helped keep engagement high across different viewing communities as the Recapture Arc has unfolded week to week.

The Recapture Arc Story So Far, Heading Into Episode 16

The Recapture Arc picks up the fallout from Subaru’s group narrowly surviving the Priestella battle in the Loss Arc. Through the Authority of Gluttony, Rem remains in an unending sleep, while Crusch’s memories and even Julius’s name were devoured, sending Subaru toward the Pleiades Watchtower in search of the all-seeing Shaula. That tower, located in the treacherous Auguria Dunes, has become the central battleground for the arc’s second half.

Recent episodes have raised the stakes considerably. Episode 14 confirmed that Reid Astrea is actually Roy Alphard, one of the Sin Archbishops of Gluttony, and saw Shaula kill fellow Archbishop Lye Batenkaitos in her scorpion form, though his fate remains uncertain given Subaru’s death and time loop ability.

Episode 15 pushed things even further into emotional territory. The episode followed directly from the previous cliffhanger with Reid Astrea, and included a sequence where Subaru dies to save Shaula before the story cycles through several of his failed timeline attempts, showing how Reid and Roy became fused into the character Roid. Fans online have called the direction and emotional weight of that episode among the season’s strongest so far.

What to Expect From ‘Re:Zero’ Season 4 Episode 16?

With Lye seemingly defeated and Roid’s true nature exposed, the remaining threats converge on the watchtower itself. The rest of Subaru’s group, including Shaula, Beatrice, Emilia and Ram, are largely holding the line against swarming mabeasts while the surviving Gluttony siblings continue making their move, with growing anticipation that Reid Astrea will finally break free from his restrictions entirely. That confrontation has been teased as a major turning point between the Sword Saint and the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony.

Given how episode 15 left Subaru reeling from what he witnessed in the Hall of Memories, episode 16 will likely need to address the emotional aftermath before diving back into the external chaos surrounding the tower. With Rem’s condition still unresolved and Reid’s full power still looming, the pressure on Subaru’s group is only building as the Recapture Arc heads toward its final stretch.

With just a few episodes left before the season closes out on September 30, how do you think Subaru’s group survives the mounting threat inside the Pleiades Watchtower?
