Robert De Niro Goes Nuclear on Donald Trump: “He’s an Alien Who Wants to Hurt This Country”
Actor Robert De Niro launched a harsh attack on President Donald Trump during an interview on MSNBC. The Oscar-winning actor said Trump “has no empathy” and described him as a threat to the country.
“Trump does not understand anything about humanity, people,” De Niro said. “He has no empathy. I don’t know where — what he is, but he’s an alien, and he wants to hurt this country.” He added, “It’s something deeply psychological in him, he wants to hurt people. He wants to hurt this country, doesn’t care.”
De Niro has long been outspoken against Trump. His criticism dates back to Trump’s first presidency and has included multiple public statements and appearances. Recently, he encouraged people to join protests on what he called “No Kings Day,” a nod to the 250-year history of fighting for democracy.

“The original No Kings protest was 250 years ago,” De Niro wrote on Instagram. “We’ve had two and a half centuries of democracy since then, often challenging, sometimes messy, always essential.” He also referenced past wars, writing, “And we fought in two world wars to preserve it. Now we have a would-be king who wants to take it away, King Donald I. F**** that!”
The tension between De Niro and Trump is well known. During Trump’s first presidency, De Niro frequently called him out in interviews, at awards shows, and on social media. Trump, in turn, has mocked De Niro publicly, calling him names and questioning his relevance. Their back-and-forth has become a recurring headline in U.S. media, highlighting the cultural clash between Hollywood figures and political leaders.
The White House responded quickly to De Niro’s latest remarks. Communications director Steven Cheung said that De Niro is “washed up” and “hasn’t been relevant in 30 years.” Cheung added, “Now, he just beclowns himself by spewing hate speech and inciting violence against others.”
De Niro has also been politically active beyond Trump criticism. Last year, he publicly supported former Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, urging his fans to back her at a Philadelphia Eagles tailgate.
De Niro’s latest comments reflect both his long-standing opposition to Trump and his continued engagement in political debates. The feud between the actor and the former president shows no signs of slowing, with each side trading harsh words over the years.
