Rumors: DeMayo in Problems With ‘X-Men 97’ & ‘Blade’ Prior To Firing

Yesterday news broke out that Beau DeMayo, the creator of ‘X-Men ’97’ scheduled to be released only a few weeks from now, was fired without any warning whatsoever. His company email was deactivated and Marvel Studios (and Disney) broke all ties with him in what looks like a shocking decision. It’s even more shocking when you take into account that DeMayo was clearly a massive part of Marvel’s future. ‘X-Men ’97’ was scheduled to get a second season ahead of the first season’s premiere. He was also reportedly discussing plans for season 3 and was actively working on the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot script.

And while no reason for his firing was given either by the studio or by his representatives, notable leaker and scooper CanWeGetSomeToast published on X that it was a combination of things.

Apparently, there were some problems with ‘X-Men ’97’ development, and his early draft of ‘Blade’ script wasn’t as well received as it was hoped. But it’s important to note that even CWGST isn’t claiming that this was the primary reason for firing. Something more serious must have started the avalanche that led to his termination. But it’s also important to note that recently rumors regarding problematic ‘Blade’ development resurfaced once again.

A few weeks ago rumor was going around that Mahershala Ali dropped out of the project completely due to the movie facing delays once again. But it was soon debunked when Mahershala Ali stated he is pleased with the story so far, even though the movie is going through a lot of changes story-wise. Apparently, Michael Green was hired to do rewrites and they are aiming to conserve the “R” rating under any means necessary, something that Demange stated even several months ago.

‘Blade’ movie was supposed to be released back in 2023, but after a series of production problems and the SAG-AFTRA strike it’s been delayed by over 2 years, with the estimated release date being November 7, 2025. Considering the rumor that the movie is undergoing more changes, it’s safe to bet that the movie will be delayed some more.
