Rupert Grint and Daisy Ridley Team Up With Johnny Depp for New Christmas Classic Adaptation
A new version of A Christmas Carol is coming, and it has a packed cast led by Johnny Depp.
According to information shared by Paramount and first reported by industry outlets, Rupert Grint, Sam Claflin, Charlie Murphy, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, and Ellie Bamber have all joined the film, titled Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol.
The movie is being directed by Ti West and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 13, 2026. Depp will play Ebenezer Scrooge, the famous character from the Charles Dickens novel. Andrea Riseborough, Ian McKellen, and Tramell Tillman are also part of the cast. The script was written by Nathaniel Halpern, and the film is being produced by Emma Watts.
This version of the story is described as a darker and more intense ghost tale set in Dickens-era London. It follows one man as he is forced to confront his past, his present, and what lies ahead, all while fighting for a chance to change his life.
While casting details are mostly being kept quiet, sources say Rupert Grint is expected to play Bob Cratchit, Scrooge’s kind and loyal employee. The roles for the other actors have not yet been confirmed.
A Christmas Carol has been adapted many times over the years, but this film is one of two new versions announced recently. Warner Bros. is also working on a separate take on the story, with Robert Eggers directing and Willem Dafoe reportedly set to play Scrooge.
Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman are listed as executive producers on the Paramount project, along with Adam Bohling and David Reid.
