Russell Brand Slams Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Over Their Romance
Russell Brand has spoken out about his ex-wife Katy Perry and her rumored relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and his comments are now making headlines.
The comedian addressed the topic while speaking at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix on December 18. During his appearance on stage, Brand brought up Perry and Trudeau while talking to the audience. He reminded the crowd that he was once married to the pop star and said he still cares about her. He then took a sharp turn when mentioning Trudeau.
“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still… I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? C’mon, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy!” Brand said, drawing laughter and reactions from the crowd. Video clips of the moment later spread online.
Brand and Perry were married from 2010 to 2012. Their split was widely covered at the time, and Perry later spoke about how emotional the divorce was in her documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me.
After their divorce, Perry went on to date actor Orlando Bloom. The two met in 2016, got engaged in 2019, and welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove in 2020. They later ended their engagement in June.
Rumors about Perry and Trudeau began earlier this year. In July, the singer and the former prime minister were seen spending time together in Montreal. According to PEOPLE, a source said the two felt an instant connection but were taking things slowly due to their busy lives.
The source also claimed they bonded over shared values and interests, including music. The pair later appeared together publicly in October at a cabaret show in Paris during Perry’s birthday celebration.
This situation feels messy and unnecessary. Personal relationships, especially after a long divorce, should not become public targets. While Brand has a right to speak, public comments like these only add fuel to online drama. What do you think about Russell Brand’s remarks and the reaction they sparked?
