Marvel Studios has officially started the countdown to what could be its most important movie in years. Avengers: Doomsday is now just one year away, and the studio is making it clear that everything is riding on this release.

After a mixed year for Marvel at the box office, expectations are high for the next Avengers film. Avengers: Doomsday is set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and it will lead into the final chapter of the Multiverse Saga.

The movie brings together several corners of the Marvel universe, including the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and characters from the former Fox X-Men films. It also marks the return of Robert Downey Jr., this time playing Doctor Doom, and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.

To mark one year until release, directors Joe and Anthony Russo shared a short teaser on Instagram. The clip shows a digital clock counting down to the premiere date. For a brief moment, the numbers glitch and flash the word DOOMSDAY before returning to the timer. The post confirms that marketing for the film has officially begun. The teaser was shared directly by the Russo Brothers on social media.

According to reports, this is only the start. Marvel Studios is planning several short previews tied to theatrical screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Each teaser is expected to focus on different characters from the massive cast. By attaching the footage to one of the biggest movies of the year, Marvel is making sure millions of people see it in theaters.

One teaser has already leaked online. The clip appears to show Steve Rogers after the events of Avengers: Endgame, ending with the message Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday. This has fueled rumors that the story may center on Doctor Doom targeting Steve because of changes made to the timeline.

Marvel has not confirmed plot details, but the studio clearly wants to rebuild excitement and trust with fans. Avengers: Doomsday is being positioned as a turning point for the franchise.
