Avengers: Doomsday is the next big installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following Avengers: Endgame. It will be the fifth Avengers movie and the 39th film in the MCU. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, with a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
The movie features an enormous ensemble cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Florence Pugh, and many more. The story will see the Avengers teaming up with Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and the X-Men to face Doctor Doom, played by Downey.
Originally, two new Avengers films, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, were announced in July 2022 to conclude Phase Six of the MCU and The Multiverse Saga. After some changes in directors and writers, including Destin Daniel Cretton leaving the project and Waldron replacing Jeff Loveness as writer, Marvel confirmed the return of the Russo brothers to direct. The movie was given the subtitle Doomsday, with Downey cast as the villain Doctor Doom.
Filming took place from April to September at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional location shoots in England and Bahrain.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release in the United States on December 18, 2026, and its sequel, Secret Wars, will follow on December 17, 2027.
