Ryan Coogler Shares New Update on His Most Anticipated Project
Ryan Coogler has shared that his return to the world of Black Panther is finally happening. The filmmaker spoke about his plans during a panel for his new movie Sinners at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles event, where he gave fans a clear update on what he is making next.
Coogler said that after finishing Sinners, he is now focused on the next chapter in the Wakanda story. When Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr. asked him directly if Black Panther 3 was on the way, Coogler answered with a bit of humor before confirming it. He told the audience, “If it was anybody but you, I would say, ‘I can neither confirm or deny.’ But we’re working on it hard. … Yeah, it’s the next movie.”

Talk about a third Black Panther film has been going on for a while. Coogler and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke about the possibility back in 2022.
Cast members also hinted that they expected another film, but everyone needed time to rest and reset before jumping into another project. Over the following years, Coogler continued shaping the idea while also having early casting talks. By late 2024, he had discussions with Denzel Washington about joining the next movie, and Coogler later confirmed that Washington would be involved.
Another change behind the scenes came when longtime Marvel producer Nate Moore announced he would leave the studio this year. Even with that shift, he still plans to help produce Black Panther 3.
With Coogler officially saying the movie is his next project, it marks the strongest sign yet that the next installment of the series is moving forward.
