Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe are getting ready to lead a new stage version of Romeo and Juliet in London. The project, directed by Robert Icke, will open in the West End in 2026. Before rehearsals move into full swing, the two actors appeared together on the cover of British Vogue, where they spoke about the play and this new chapter in their careers.

Sink told British Vogue that returning to the stage feels natural to her. She has worked on screen for years, but theatre was always part of her early dreams. Performing in London is something she has wanted for a long time. She explained that a long meeting with Icke changed how she sees Juliet. It was as if a spark was lit, she said, describing the moment she realized she wanted to take on the role.

Jupe is stepping onto the stage for the first time with this production. He has built his name in film and television, but live theatre brings a different kind of pressure. There are no second takes. Everything happens in front of the audience. He told British Vogue that the team involved made the decision easy. The combination of Romeo, Rob and Sadie is an opportunity you simply cannot turn down, he said.

The two actors did not have much time to prepare together before public appearances began. Sink shared that their chemistry test was brief. We did a chemistry read together and that was, what, like an hour? she said. Soon after, they were in front of cameras for the Vogue shoot. Jupe added, We had to do a full-on photoshoot for it, pointing out how quickly they had to build trust as co-stars.

This new Romeo and Juliet will run for 12 weeks at the Harold Pinter Theatre from March 16 to June 6, 2026. The production will include modern elements and a fresh take on Shakespeare’s story. It aims to connect with a new generation of theatre fans.

Both actors are also facing major career shifts. Sink is also joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. She is also set to produce and star in a film version of John Proctor Is the Villain.

Jupe has several films lined up as well. He recently played Hamlet in Hamnet alongside Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley. He will also appear in The Death of Robin Hood with Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, and has starred in the second season of The Night Manager.

According to British Vogue, this stage project comes at a key moment for both actors as they move into their twenties and take on more control over their careers.
