Sarah J. Maas Finally Reveals Titles & Release Dates for the Next Two ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ Books, and Fans Are Losing It

Few fantasy franchises have built the kind of devoted, obsessive fanbase that ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ has cultivated over the past decade. What started as a single 2015 release has since exploded into a global phenomenon, fueled largely by BookTok’s relentless championing of the series.

Fans have spent years waiting for new installments following 2021’s ‘A Court of Silver Flames,’ with speculation running wild every time author Sarah J. Maas so much as changed her social media profile picture. That anticipation reached a fever pitch earlier this year when Maas confirmed release dates for two new books without revealing their titles.

Now the wait for those details is finally over. Maas has officially unveiled the titles and covers for ‘ACOTAR‘ Books 6 and 7, revealing that Book 6, titled ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony,’ will publish on October 27, 2026, while Book 7, ‘A Court of Forgotten Melody,’ follows on January 12, 2027.

The reveal came through a carefully orchestrated rollout, with Maas sharing the covers via back-to-back Instagram posts as digital billboards simultaneously appeared across Los Angeles, Denver, and New York City. Both books carry subtitles tying them to something called “The Valkyrie Cycle,” with Book 6 marked as “Movement I” and Book 7 covering “Movements II and III.”

Each cover reveal also came with a short, cryptic tagline hinting at the story ahead. Maas captioned the announcement for ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony’ with “What was broken will be remade,” while ‘A Court of Forgotten Melody’ was paired with the line “What was lost will be reclaimed.”

The series follows sisters Feyre, Nesta, and Elain Archeron through their adventures in the fae realm of Prythian, spanning five previous novels since the franchise’s 2015 debut. Both new books are being published by Bloomsbury, continuing the partnership that has turned Maas into one of the publisher’s most commercially successful authors.

Maas first confirmed the release dates back in March during an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, explaining that the story had grown too large to fit into a single book. She described the writing process as pouring out of her unexpectedly quickly once she found the right creative headspace, resulting in a narrative that needed to be split across multiple volumes.

Fans had spent months piecing together clues from Maas’s social media activity, including a since-deleted Instagram post last year showing her closing a notebook labeled “ACOTAR 6” alongside a bottle of celebratory champagne. That teaser, along with a wiped Instagram account earlier this week, had already sent the fandom into a speculation frenzy ahead of Sunday’s official announcement.

The titles’ emphasis on music-adjacent imagery, from “Harmony” to “Melody,” alongside the Valkyrie Cycle branding has already sparked theories among devoted readers trying to guess which characters and storylines the new books might center on. With official details about plot still under wraps, fans are left combing through every visual clue on the newly revealed covers for hints.

Both ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony’ and ‘A Court of Forgotten Melody’ are now available for pre-order, giving fans a concrete way to countdown to October. After a five-year wait since the last mainline installment, the franchise’s return is shaping up to be one of the biggest publishing events of the year.
