At the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, Hollywood witnessed a moment that still sparks conversation today. Halle Berry and Scarlett Johansson, two of the industry’s biggest stars, were caught sharing a lively private conversation during the ceremony in Santa Monica. The encounter instantly grabbed attention, highlighting the mutual respect between these powerhouse actresses.

Berry was honored with the People’s Icon Award, celebrating decades of groundbreaking work in film. Johansson took home the Female Movie Star of 2021 award for her final performance as Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow.

During her speech, Johansson reflected on her journey with Marvel. “When I first started my journey with Marvel, I didn’t know whether or not audiences would like my portrayal of this beloved character,” she said. She also gave a nod to the women she worked with, adding, “I also have to mention the badass women that I worked with on this film.”

Berry’s speech was equally memorable. She emphasized the importance of stepping outside her comfort zone and leaving a mark in the world. “The only way I’ve been able to step outside of my comfort zone and leave the world better than I found it is because of you,” she told the audience, reflecting on her long career.

Fast forward to 2026, and both actresses are continuing to dominate Hollywood in new and exciting ways. Berry stars in the heist thriller Crime 101, released on February 13. She plays Sharon Coombs, an insurance broker caught in a dangerous game with a skilled diamond thief, sharing the screen with Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan. Later this year, she will portray the President of the United States in Apple TV+’s thriller The President Is Missing, a story of high-stakes action and political intrigue.

Johansson has also kept busy. She made her directorial debut with the 2025 drama Eleanor the Great, starring June Squibb. She confirmed that her long-planned Disney project, Tower of Terror, is still in development. “It’s a hard nut to crack,” she said about the project. “But we’ll crack the case of it. It’s taking shape!” In 2027, she will take on a major role in a new reimagining of The Exorcist, marking a shift into horror for the first time in her career.

Their brief exchange in 2021 serves as a reminder of how both Berry and Johansson continue to leave a lasting mark on the industry. They are consistently pushing boundaries, taking on challenging roles, and inspiring the next generation of actors.

From action heroes to trailblazing producers and directors, their careers remain impressive and influential. Fans eagerly await their upcoming projects, which promise to showcase their range and talent even further.
