Scarlett Johansson Has Been a Big Fan of the ‘Jurassic’ Franchise Since Childhood: “It looked like nothing we’d ever seen before.”

As you probably know, the Jurassic franchise is far from over, despite the second trilogy not living up to the first one. A soft reboot will take place later this year, when Jurassic World Rebirth premieres, hoping to become the hit film of this summer.
The initial reactions to the trailer were positive, and with some serious stars in the lot, the movie has a lot of potential. One of the biggest announcements related to the movie was Scarlett Johansson’s casting in one of the film’s main roles. Recently, the actress confirmed she was a big fan of the franchise.
Although she has a lot of range, Johansson is probably best-known to a wider audience for portraying Black Widow in the MCU. And while her break with Disney was not really amicable, her career has been expanding and she now has the potential to become the leader of another popular franchise.
In a recent talk, Johansson confirmed she has been a fan of the franchise since childhood. “I saw the first one when I was, like, 11. And it looked like nothing we’d ever seen before. I remember it so clearly,” the actress said. “The music, the Brontosaurus, the whole thing. The first time that T-Rex screamed, oh my God, it was transcendent.”
And while she has achieved yet another career goal with this role, she also said that the role has been tied to the ongoing pressure she’s been experiencing to join Instagram: “I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth?’ [I] get a lot of pressure to join social media,” she revealed. “Is there a way I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could.”
And while an Instagram account is unlikely at this time, we know we’ll be seeing Johansson in the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth and we cannot wait. The movie is scheduled for a July 2, 2025 release.
