Scarlett Johansson in Talks for ‘The Batman’ Sequel — Rumored Role Revealed
Scarlett Johansson may soon be stepping into Gotham City. According to industry sources, she is close to signing on for The Batman Part II, the sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2021 film.
The new movie has been moving forward slowly, and having Johansson join the cast would bring fresh attention to the project. She is expected to finish work on The Exorcist first, which she joined last week, and then shift to filming The Batman Part II next year.
People familiar with the talks say Johansson is being considered for the role of Andrea Beaumont. In the DC world, Andrea is known as the Phantasm, a character who first appeared in the animated movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm in 1993.
In that story, she was the former fiancée of Bruce Wayne and had a dark and complicated past. The character later showed up again in other animated projects and eventually made it into the main DC comic universe in 2020.

Johansson is already known for leading big action films, especially from her years playing Black Widow in the Marvel movies. She also recently starred in Jurassic World: Rebirth and released her first film as a director, Eleanor the Great, which featured June Squibb. Johansson’s involvement was first reported by NPN.
The Batman Part II is planned for release on October 1, 2027. Matt Reeves is back to direct and co-write the script with Mattson Tomlin. Robert Pattinson will return as Batman, along with Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The story will continue to explore Gotham after the events of the first movie and after the fallout seen in The Penguin series. Production is expected to begin in late April or early May 2026 at several locations in the United Kingdom. Luke Hull is set as production designer, and Erik Messerschmidt will work as cinematographer.
