Scarlett Johansson May Join ‘The Batman 2’ in a Role Linked to a Major DC Villain
A new report says the actress is in talks to appear in The Batman – Part II, which is now moving closer to production. The sequel continues the story that began in 2022 and expands the darker Gotham City already introduced in the first film.
The information comes from The InSneider, which claims Johansson is expected to play Gilda Gold. In DC stories, Gilda is known as the wife of Harvey Dent, a key figure who later becomes the villain Two-Face. Her possible arrival suggests that Harvey Dent will finally be introduced in this version of the Batman universe.
The same report says the movie is also casting Harvey Dent and his father, Christopher Dent. At one point, director Matt Reeves was said to be interested in Brad Pitt for the role of Christopher. That rumor has now been addressed.

The Hollywood Reporter looked into the situation and shut down the idea of Pitt joining the film. The trade wrote, “Is Brad Pitt in The Batman Part II? This one has been in the ether for months, and we looked into it. Sadly, sources close to the production say no, Pitt will not be in the movie.” The report also notes that the movie is aiming to begin filming in May.
The Batman – Part II is set for release on October 1, 2027. Reeves is returning as director and is once again writing the script with Mattson Tomlin. Robert Pattinson is expected to return as Batman, alongside Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
The story will follow Batman as he takes on a new case while Gotham continues to deal with the chaos and corruption left behind after the citywide flooding seen in the first movie and The Penguin series. The sequel was first announced in April 2022, but production was pushed back several times as Reeves worked on the script, which was finished in June.
Filming is planned to start in early May 2026. Production will take place in England and Scotland, including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Liverpool, and Glasgow. Luke Hull is returning as production designer, with Erik Messerschmidt once again serving as cinematographer.
Johansson reportedly entered negotiations to join the cast earlier this month, though DC has not officially confirmed her role yet.
