Scott MacArthur Teams Up with Steve Carell for New HBO ‘College Comedy’

Scott MacArthur is joining the cast of HBO’s new college comedy series starring Steve Carell, Variety reports exclusively. MacArthur will play a recurring guest role in the show, which is currently in production.

The series focuses on an author, played by Carell, and his complicated relationship with his daughter, who is portrayed by Charly Clive. Alongside them, the show also features Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, John C. McGinley, and Lauren Tsai.

Right now, MacArthur stars in Netflix’s basketball comedy “Running Point,” which recently got renewed for a second season. He’s also known for his roles in the Fox comedy “The Mick” and appearances on shows like “The Righteous Gemstones,” “History of the World Part II,” “Killing It,” and “Physical.”

Besides acting, MacArthur has writing credits for “The Mick” and “Righteous Gemstones.” Movie fans may recognize him from “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie,” “No Hard Feelings,” and “Halloween Kills.” Soon, he will be seen in the Amazon/MGM+ series “Spider Noir,” starring Nicolas Cage.

The new HBO series comes from creators Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses, who are also executive producers. Steve Carell is not only starring but also executive producing, along with Jonathan Krisel, Barbie Adler, Annie Mebane, David Stassen, and Anthony King. Warner Bros. Television is producing the show.
