‘Shogun’ Star Takehiro Hira Teases High Stakes: “My Days Are Numbered” in Season 2
Takehiro Hira, known for his role as Ishido Kazunari in “Shogun,” has hinted that his character may not have a long future in the show’s upcoming second season.
Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of his new dramedy “Rental Family,” Hira revealed he has only seen one script for Season 2 but already suspects his fate.
“I can’t really talk about that, but you know, the older characters in ‘Shogun’ loosely follow the actual historical figures. So my guy doesn’t really survive much after the big war, the battle. So my days are numbered,” Hira explained.
He added, “I will probably have an honorable death,” before teasing the possibility of a return in another form.
Hira received an Emmy nomination last year for his supporting role in the series. Season 2 of “Shogun” is officially described as taking place ten years after the events of the first season, promising to explore the aftermath of the original storyline and the shifts in power among the characters.
It seems fans may need to brace for emotional twists in the next season, especially regarding some of the older, historically inspired figures. Hira’s comments suggest that while his character may meet his end, the show could still find creative ways to bring him back in unexpected ways.
