Showtime’s popular thriller Yellowjackets is heading for its final season. The network confirmed that the hit drama will end with Season 4, which is expected to begin production in 2026. The last season will stream on Paramount+ for Premium subscribers, just like the earlier ones.

The news came from showrunners and executive producers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who shared a heartfelt statement on social media.

“After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of ‘Yellowjackets’ to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” they said. “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen.”

They added that creating the show has been a meaningful journey. “Telling this emotional, wild and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us,” they continued.

“Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery and meal — the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it … delicious.”

A source familiar with the show said that Season 4 will likely follow the same release pattern, with new episodes airing Sundays on Showtime before being available to stream. There are also talks between Lyle, Nickerson, and Paramount about continuing their creative partnership after the series wraps up.

Yellowjackets has been one of Showtime’s biggest successes in recent years. It has earned critical praise for its dark storytelling, strong performances, and the way it connects past and present timelines.

The show has been nominated for multiple major awards, including eight Primetime Emmy Awards, three Writers Guild of America Awards, five Television Critics Association Awards, and a Critics Choice Award.

The series has also been a big hit with viewers. Showtime says it’s the second most-streamed series in the network’s history, and its third season had the highest audience numbers so far.

The first season of Yellowjackets made its debut in 2021 and quickly became a fan favorite.

The second season premiered in March 2023, and production on the third season was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes before it finally aired in February. Showtime renewed the series for a fourth and final season in May, confirming that the story will officially come to an end in 2026.

Ending the show after four seasons might disappoint fans, but it’s clear the creators want to finish the story the right way. Sometimes, the best endings come when a show leaves on its own terms.
