A new spy thriller is coming to Peacock this December. The Copenhagen Test, starring Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera, has just released its first trailer, giving fans a glimpse of the high-stakes action and intense drama to come.

The series is set to premiere on December 27 and will consist of eight episodes, according to Peacock and production sources.

The show is a science fiction espionage thriller created by Thomas Brandon. It follows an intelligence agent, played by Simu Liu, whose brain is hacked, forcing him to prove his loyalty and navigate a world filled with danger and deception.

Melissa Barrera co-stars as Michelle, joining a strong main cast that also includes Sinclair Daniel, Brian d’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant. Recurring roles are played by Sara Amini, Saul Rubinek, and Hannah Cruz.

Thomas Brandon serves as the creator, writer, and executive producer, working alongside co-showrunner Jennifer Yale. Legendary producer James Wan is also attached as an executive producer, alongside Michael Clear and Rob Hackett from Atomic Monster. Simu Liu is not only starring but also serving as an executive producer. Jet Wilkinson directed the first two episodes and worked with executive producer Mark Winemaker on production.

Filming for the series began in Toronto on October 21, 2024, and wrapped on March 11 of this year. The trailer, which was released alongside the announcement, shows fast-paced action, tense spy sequences, and a glimpse at the complex story of hacking and betrayal at the series’ core.

The first teaser already hints at a gripping story. Fans get a look at Liu’s character navigating dangerous situations while trying to figure out who he can trust. The trailer also features Barrera’s character, who appears to play a key role in helping him uncover the truth.

With its December release just around the corner, The Copenhagen Test promises to deliver a mix of science fiction, espionage, and suspense that could appeal to both thriller fans and sci-fi lovers alike.
