The upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the biggest ensemble movies in the MCU yet.

The movie will bring together the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the original X-Men to face off against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. It is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU, with its sequel, Secret Wars, set for December 17, 2027.

At New York Comic Con, Simu Liu, who plays Shang-Chi, gave fans a thrilling update. He revealed that Shang-Chi will share scenes with Professor X, played by Patrick Stewart. He said he grew up idolizing superhero legends such as Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart, “and now maybe, maybe even do scenes with them at some point,” Liu said, prompting cheers from the crowd.

The film already has a massive cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Tenoch Huerta, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and many more.

Previous hints have suggested big moments for other fan-favorite characters too. Alan Cumming accidentally mentioned a fight between Nightcrawler and Mister Fantastic, while Channing Tatum teased that Gambit would be involved in a major battle against Doctor Doom.

Filming for Avengers: Doomsday took place from April to September in England and Bahrain. The movie is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, with Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely writing the screenplay.

Fans are excited to see Shang-Chi interacting with the X-Men, and the huge cast promises an action-packed, crossover-heavy story that could reshape the MCU landscape.
