Ronaldo’s move into the film franchise adds another chapter to his already massive career. After dominating the sport for more than two decades, stepping into one of Hollywood’s biggest action series brings him into a new spotlight and introduces him to an even wider audience.
The future of the Fast & Furious franchise has been closely watched since the release of Fast X. After that film hit theaters, Diesel said Universal was considering making two more movies, depending on how the film performed. Around the same time, a spin-off titled Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes was announced, with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa attached to star.
Reports later suggested that the next main film would likely wrap up the franchise due to the high costs and mixed box office results of Fast X. Diesel later confirmed that the upcoming movie would serve as the final chapter. He also shared that the story would return to the roots of the series, focusing more on street racing and a simpler mission. The return of Brian O’Conner was also teased.
The project has faced several delays and behind-the-scenes challenges. At one point, The Wall Street Journal reported that the film had no release date and could even be canceled due to budget issues.
Universal was said to be pushing for a lower budget, including fewer stunts and reduced cast involvement. However, Diesel later reassured fans that the budget problems had been resolved and that production would move forward, while planned spin-offs were put on hold.
