Social Media Erupts as Nicki Minaj Uses Homophobic Slur Against Don Lemon
Nicki Minaj is facing heavy backlash after a heated social media post aimed at journalist Don Lemon. The situation started after Lemon covered a tense moment at a church service in Minnesota. Minaj reacted online and used a homophobic slur while attacking him, which quickly caused outrage across social media.
The comments were posted on X, late Sunday. Minaj responded to Lemon’s reporting with an angry message written in all caps. In the post, she referred to him using a slur and wrote, “DON ‘C*** S****’ LEMON IS DISGUSTING.” Screenshots of the post spread fast, and many users called her out for using hateful language.

The reporting that upset Minaj came from Don Lemon himself. According to Lemon and footage shared online, he was livestreaming from Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. A group of protesters interrupted the church service to speak out against Immigration and Customs Enforcement being active in the area. Lemon was there to document what was happening, not to lead the protest.
Reports say the protesters were upset because the church’s pastor allegedly has ties to ICE. They were also demanding justice for Renee Good, a local woman who was reportedly shot and killed earlier this month by ICE agent Jonathan Ross during a federal operation. The mix of religion, law enforcement, and a recent death made the situation very emotional.
Minaj was furious about the disruption and believed Lemon crossed a line by covering it. In another post, she called for him to be arrested and jailed, writing, “HOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!!” Her posts made it clear she felt the church should have been left alone.
Don Lemon responded to the attack in a statement to TMZ. He did not apologize and instead questioned Minaj’s understanding of journalism. He said, “I’m not surprised Nicki Minaj does not understand journalism and is weighing in on matters that are above her capacity.” He also mocked her behavior, adding, “The more appropriate image for her post is a ‘Pick Me’ Doll.”
The controversy grew even larger after the White House weighed in on the church incident itself. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt released a statement saying President Trump “will not tolerate the intimidation and harassment of Christians in their sacred places of worship.” She also confirmed that the Department of Justice has opened an investigation into the disruption.
Minaj’s reaction fits with her recent political views. Over the past year, she has openly supported Donald Trump and has shared pro-MAGA messages with her followers. Her political posts often spark arguments, even among her own fanbase.
Nicki Minaj remains one of the biggest names in music and recently wrapped up her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. Don Lemon, meanwhile, has continued his work as an independent journalist since leaving CNN in 2023 and now hosts his own show on X.
As the investigation into the church protest continues, the online fight between Minaj and Lemon shows no signs of slowing down. The argument has turned into a wider debate about free speech, religion, journalism, and where celebrities cross the line.
