Sony Pictures has spent the past week celebrating the entire history of its Spider-Man franchise, and Tobey Maguire’s original trilogy just got its turn in the spotlight. With Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing still dominating theaters, the studio is clearly using this moment to remind fans just how far the wall-crawler’s cinematic journey has come since Sam Raimi first brought him to the big screen.

Maguire’s run as Spider-Man began in 2002 and helped launch the modern era of superhero filmmaking, setting a template that every subsequent Spider-Man adaptation has had to reckon with in some way. Across three films, Raimi built a version of Peter Parker defined by heartbreak, heroism, and increasingly ambitious villains, culminating in 2007’s divisive but memorable ‘Spider-Man 3’.

Sony Pictures has unveiled new poster artwork for Sam Raimi’s original ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy, part of a larger series of ten redesigned posters covering every live-action and animated Spider-Man film released by the studio.

The updated ‘Spider-Man 3’ artwork features Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman prominently alongside Maguire, marking the film that also introduced the symbiote Venom and Maguire’s black-suited version of the hero.

This new wave of poster art doesn’t stop with Raimi’s trilogy. The same rollout includes redesigned artwork for Andrew Garfield’s two-film run as Spider-Man, with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ adopting a blue-toned color scheme featuring Garfield alongside Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans’ Lizard, while ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ spotlights Garfield’s showdown against Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin.

Tom Holland’s trilogy received its own matching treatment as part of the same release, alongside a purple-accented poster for the animated ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ highlighting Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, and the Prowler. Altogether, the ten posters span every corner of Sony’s Spider-Man output, giving fans a rare side-by-side look at how the character’s visual identity has evolved across more than two decades of film.

The timing of this retrospective poster campaign lines up directly with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continuing its record-breaking run in theaters, giving Sony a natural moment to spotlight the character’s full cinematic legacy while audience interest is at its peak. It also follows closely behind news that Raimi’s original trilogy is heading back to theaters this fall through Fathom Entertainment, including a 4K theatrical debut of “Spider-Man 2.1,” the extended cut of ‘Spider-Man 2’ first released on DVD back in 2007.

That theatrical re-release begins September 26 with the original ‘Spider-Man’, followed by ‘Spider-Man 2.1’ on September 27 and ‘Spider-Man 3’ on September 28, with an encore weekend following on October 3 through 5. Fathom Entertainment CEO Ray Nutt spoke to the enduring appeal of Maguire’s performance ahead of the announcement, saying, “The success of ‘Spider-Man’ in 2002 helped launch the modern era of superhero films. To this day, Tobey Maguire’s take on Spider-Man resonates across generations.”

Between the new poster art and the upcoming theatrical re-release, Sony appears determined to keep Raimi’s trilogy firmly in the cultural conversation even as Holland’s newest chapter rewrites the franchise’s box office record books.
