Paramount+ has a fresh mix of new specials, recent blockbusters, and library favorites that people keep returning to. This week brings animated events, high tension thrillers, and a few big name ensembles, so there is a little something for every kind of movie night. Everything below follows the lineup you have been watching.

We put together quick primers with plot points and who is involved behind the camera and in front of it. Each entry has two short paragraphs so you can see what the project is about and who made it happen without any extra fuss.

This special from the long running ‘South Park’ universe follows Cartman as he clashes with his mom while the town faces a water shortage. The story sends Stan, Kyle, and Randy into a feud that ties water rights to a rush of streaming platforms and to Tegridy Farms. The voice cast features Trey Parker and Matt Stone along with April Stewart and Mona Marshall.

The special was written and directed by Trey Parker and produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and South Park Digital Studios for Paramount+. It builds on themes and characters from ‘South Park’ and uses a longer runtime to push a bigger town wide crisis.

This crime thriller follows Matthew Scudder, a former NYPD detective who works as an unlicensed private investigator. He is hired by a drug trafficker after a kidnapping ends in tragedy, which pulls Scudder into a case that moves through the back streets of New York City. Liam Neeson leads the cast with Dan Stevens, David Harbour, and Brian “Astro” Bradley in key roles.

The film was written and directed by Scott Frank and is based on the novel by Lawrence Block. It focuses on methodical detective work and tense confrontations and was shot on location to capture the city setting that defines the story.

This teen comedy follows Cady Heron as she moves from years of home schooling to the halls of North Shore High and gets pulled into the power circle known as the Plastics. Cady tries to fit in while her friendships with Janis and Damian pull her in a different direction and her crush on Aaron Samuels sets off a showdown with queen bee Regina George.

The film is directed by Mark Waters from a screenplay by Tina Fey and was released by Paramount Pictures. The cast features Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried, Tina Fey, Lizzy Caplan, Daniel Franzese, Jonathan Bennett, Tim Meadows, and Amy Poehler, with cinematography by Daryn Okada and music by Rolfe Kent.

This workplace comedy follows Joel, the owner of a flavor extract factory, as he tries to fix trouble on the production line and in his marriage at the same time. A con artist at the plant stirs up a lawsuit that threatens the business while Joel’s friends give him terrible advice. Jason Bateman stars with Mila Kunis, Ben Affleck, Kristen Wiig, J. K. Simmons, and Clifton Collins Jr.

The film was written and directed by Mike Judge who is known for character driven workplace stories. It blends a small scale business setting with a large ensemble and keeps the focus on how one bad decision at the plant can ripple through everyone’s day.

This special from ‘South Park’ plays with multiverse ideas as Cartman has vivid dreams where familiar characters look and act very different. The town wrestles with sudden changes and with worries about artificial intelligence tools while Randy chases a new business scheme. Trey Parker and Matt Stone lead the voice cast alongside April Stewart and Mona Marshall.

Trey Parker directed and co wrote the special which was produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and South Park Digital Studios for Paramount+. It uses the extra runtime to move between many versions of the characters while calling back to long running threads from ‘South Park’.

This neo noir thriller centers on Jimmy Jayne, a tattoo artist who becomes the prime suspect in a case involving multiple murders. He starts his own search for answers and crosses paths with two detectives who may or may not be on his side. Devon Sawa headlines the film with Bruce Willis and Luke Wilson in supporting roles.

The movie was directed by Edward John Drake. It features moody night shoots and a Southern California setting as the investigation pushes into dangerous clubs and back rooms where the clues start to connect.

This action comedy follows Nathan Caine, a mild mannered assistant bank manager who lives with a rare condition that prevents him from feeling pain. When a holiday season heist hits his branch and his coworker and new love interest Sherry is taken, Nathan turns his unusual condition into an advantage and throws himself into a chaotic rescue that pulls him into clashes with masked robbers and a trail of clues across the city. Jack Quaid leads as Nathan with Amber Midthunder as Sherry and supporting turns from Ray Nicholson, Jacob Batalon, Betty Gabriel, and Matt Walsh.

The film is directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen from a screenplay by Lars Jacobson and was produced by Drew Simon, Tory Tunnell, Joby Harold, Sam Speiser, Matt Schwartz, and Julian Rosenberg. Behind the camera the team includes cinematographer Jacques Jouffret, editor Christian Wagner, and composers Lorne Balfe and Andrew Kawczynski, with production by Infrared Pictures and Safehouse Pictures alongside Circle of Confusion and distribution by Paramount Pictures in March 2025.

This aviation drama brings back Pete “Maverick” Mitchell as he returns to the Navy to train a new group of pilots for a near impossible mission. The cast features Tom Cruise with Miles Teller as Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw along with Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. The aerial work follows real aircraft in flight to keep the action grounded.

The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Tom Cruise, Christopher McQuarrie, and David Ellison. The score brings together Harold Faltermeyer, Hans Zimmer, and Lorne Balfe and the cinematography by Claudio Miranda helped define the look of the jet sequences.

This ‘South Park’ special focuses on a crisis that tests how the town deals with adult themes and the rules around what kids watch. The core group of Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny end up at the center of the mess as usual while the town reacts in chaotic ways. The voice cast includes Trey Parker and Matt Stone with April Stewart and Mona Marshall.

The special was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for Paramount+ under the ongoing slate of exclusive events. It continues the format that lets the show tackle a single topic at length with new songs, new characters, and callbacks to past storylines from ‘South Park’.

Trey Parker wrote and directed the special and it was produced for Paramount+ by MTV Entertainment Studios and South Park Digital Studios. The longer runtime lets the story cover multiple angles in town life and connect to other ‘South Park’ events on the service.
