‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Now Tracking to Become the Third Highest-Grossing Movie of All Time

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has spent every single day since its release rewriting the record books, and its second weekend in theaters proved the momentum has no signs of slowing down. Sony and Marvel’s latest Tom Holland outing pulled in $145 million domestically in its sophomore frame, marking the third-biggest second weekend in box office history and one of only eight films ever to cross $100 million in its second weekend alone.

That kind of staying power has already made the film the highest-grossing movie of 2026, and industry watchers are now looking well beyond the current year’s chart. After crossing $1 billion worldwide in just six days, the film has continued climbing at a pace that’s rewritten expectations for what a modern blockbuster can achieve during its theatrical run.

With North American earnings now at $655 million and a global total of $1.67 billion after just ten days, box office trackers project ‘Brand New Day’ is now tracking to surpass $2.5 billion in total worldwide earnings. That trajectory would place the film alongside only ‘Avatar’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as the third movie ever to cross that threshold before adjusting for inflation, potentially making it the third highest-grossing film of all time.

Reaching that milestone would put ‘Brand New Day’ in genuinely rarefied territory. ‘Avatar’ currently sits atop the all-time chart with $2.9 billion worldwide following multiple theatrical re-releases, while ‘Avengers: Endgame’ holds second place with $2.7 billion after its own re-release boosts, meaning Holland’s Spider-Man could soon be closing in on two of cinema’s most dominant box office records.

Nearly every stage of the film’s release has come with a new milestone attached. ‘Brand New Day’ opened to a record-setting $360 million domestically and $932 million globally, the second-largest worldwide debut ever behind only ‘Endgame,’ before going on to deliver the highest-grossing Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday totals in box office history.

The film also became the fastest movie to ever cross $400 million domestically, needing just four days to hit that number, and the second-fastest to reach $1 billion worldwide. Reflecting on the achievement, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said he hadn’t expected ‘Endgame’s’ domestic opening record to fall, but that he couldn’t be happier it was broken by the franchise’s thirty-eighth MCU movie, according to Variety.

With euphoric word-of-mouth continuing to drive ticket sales and minimal major competition on the release calendar in the coming weeks, analysts believe the film has a genuine shot at reaching the coveted $3 billion mark, a feat only ‘Avatar’ has ever accomplished without the help of a rerelease. Given the film’s pace so far, even matching ‘Endgame’s’ original theatrical total appears well within reach before the movie eventually leaves theaters.

For a franchise that’s already generated over $33 billion across thirty-eight films for the MCU as a whole, ‘Brand New Day’ cementing itself among cinema’s three biggest earners would mark an extraordinary achievement for Holland’s fourth solo outing as the wall-crawler.
