‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Overtakes ‘Titanic,’ ‘Infinity War,’ and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’s’ Entire Theatrical Runs

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ has spent every single day of its release rewriting box office history, and its momentum shows absolutely no signs of slowing eleven days into its theatrical run. Sony and Marvel’s fourth Tom Holland outing already claimed the biggest opening weekend ever, the fastest climb to $1 billion worldwide behind only ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ and the third-biggest sophomore weekend in box office history with a $145 million second frame.

That relentless pace has now pushed the film into truly historic territory on the domestic charts. According to Box Office Mojo tracking, ‘Brand New Day’ hit an estimated $671.2 million domestic cume as of Tuesday, adding close to $17 million on its second Monday, the biggest non-holiday second Monday total any film has ever recorded, even with a steep 63.9 percent drop from the previous Monday’s take.

That figure is enough to surpass the entire lifetime domestic runs of three genuine box office titans: ‘Titanic’s’ $674.4 million (or $674 million-plus depending on the exact figure), ‘Avengers: Infinity War’s’ $678.8 million, and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’s’ $684 million-plus totals, according to Box Office Mojo. Clearing that threshold makes ‘Brand New Day’ the seventh highest-grossing film of all time domestically, an achievement that puts it in company with some of cinema’s most enduring blockbusters after less than two weeks in theaters.

With Wednesday expected to push the film past $700 million, it will become just the fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe title ever to cross that threshold, joining ‘Avengers: Endgame’ at $858.3 million, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ at $814.8 million, and ‘Black Panther’ at $700.4 million, according to Deadline.

What makes this run especially remarkable is how consistently ‘Brand New Day’ has widened its lead over ‘Avengers: Endgame’ at comparable points in each film’s release. The film is now roughly $38 million ahead of ‘Endgame’ at the same stage of its theatrical run, a gap that’s grown significantly since finishing its opening weekend just $3 million ahead of the 2019 crossover event.

That trajectory has turned attention toward ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ which has held the all-time North American box office record with $936.6 million since 2015. With $900 million now considered all but guaranteed and industry watchers increasingly split on whether the film could ultimately surpass a full billion dollars domestically, ‘Brand New Day’ appears positioned to challenge a record many assumed was untouchable.

The film’s dominance extends well beyond its own individual milestones. It currently sits atop this summer’s box office rankings with $671.3 million, well ahead of ‘Toy Story 5’ at $470.7 million and ‘The Odyssey’ at $461.4 million, helping push the 2026 summer season past $4 billion in combined ticket sales for the first time since before the pandemic.

Globally, ‘Brand New Day’ has already climbed to $1.67 billion, ranking twelfth all time worldwide, after becoming the second-fastest film ever to cross $1 billion internationally behind only ‘Endgame.’ With $800 million domestically potentially within reach by this weekend or shortly after, depending on how the film’s third weekend performs, ‘Brand New Day’ shows every sign of continuing to climb the all-time charts in the days ahead.
