The trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has made history. Sony Pictures released it on Wednesday morning, and in just 24 hours, it racked up 718.6 million views, making it the most-watched trailer ever.

The previous record was held by “Deadpool and Wolverine,” which had 365 million views in a single day. In only eight hours, the “Brand New Day” trailer had already reached 373 million views, surpassing the record set by “Deadpool 3” during the 2024 Super Bowl. For context, the 2021 “Spider-Man: No Way Home” trailer had 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.

This trailer doesn’t just break movie trailer records; it also beats the 475 million views that the “Grand Theft Auto VI” trailer earned in 24 hours, making it the most-watched video trailer of all time. To build excitement, Sony released short teaser clips the day before the full trailer dropped.

“Brand New Day” marks the first time Tom Holland has returned as Spider-Man since “No Way Home,” which famously brought together past Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. That movie went on to earn $1.9 billion worldwide.

The official logline for the new movie teases: “Four years have passed since the events of ‘No Way Home,’ and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”

The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Destin Daniel Cretton directs, with a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Producers include Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O’Connor, with executive producers Louis D’Esposito and David Cain.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31.

This trailer proves how excited fans are to see Spider-Man back in action. Breaking these records shows just how popular Tom Holland’s Spider-Man remains. What do you think of the trailer? Share your thoughts in the comments.
