Spider-Man, Punisher, and Zendaya Join Forces in Two Big 2026 Movies
Jon Bernthal is making his big-screen Marvel debut alongside Tom Holland in the upcoming Spider-Man film titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will start filming in England this summer and is set to be released on July 31, 2026.
Although details about the film are still limited, it’s confirmed that Zendaya will return as MJ, joining Bernthal and Holland. Early reports suggest her role might be small, but how much she will appear is unclear, especially after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
What’s interesting is that Bernthal, Holland, and Zendaya will also star together in another 2026 release, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. This film adapts Homer’s epic poem and stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the Greek king trying to return home after the Trojan War. The cast includes big names like Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and of course, Bernthal, Holland, and Zendaya.
Nolan began developing The Odyssey in 2024, following his film Oppenheimer. Filming started in February 2025, taking place in various locations such as Morocco, Greece, Italy, and the United Kingdom. With a budget of around $250 million, it is Nolan’s most expensive film yet and the first blockbuster shot entirely on IMAX film cameras.
The story focuses on Odysseus’s tough journey home, where he faces dangers like the Cyclops, Sirens, and the witch Circe, all while trying to reunite with his wife Penelope. Tom Holland will play Telemachus, Odysseus’s son, but it’s still unknown what roles Zendaya and Bernthal will have.
Filming has been ongoing in several countries. It started in Morocco, then moved to Greece where the team shot scenes near ancient castles and beaches connected to the story. Later, they filmed in Sicily, Italy, including the Aeolian Islands, and then in studios in Los Angeles. The production will continue in places like the UK, Scotland, Ireland, and Iceland.
The Odyssey is expected to hit theaters on July 17, 2026, just two weeks before Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
From my point of view, having these three actors work together on two very different films is exciting. It shows their versatility and will be fun to watch how they switch between a superhero story and an ancient epic. What do you think about this double team-up?
