Sony Pictures Animation is making a new animated movie all about Spider-Punk. Deadline reports that the project is in the very early stages and will be written by Daniel Kaluuya and Ajon Singh.

Kaluuya, who starred in Judas and the Black Messiah, voiced Spider-Punk in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Singh is known for his work on Primetime.

The movie’s story is still a secret. No release date has been announced, and no other cast or crew have been confirmed. But it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kaluuya plays Spider-Punk again. He’s already set to return as the voice in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which comes out in 2027.

Spider-Punk is a different kind of Spider-Man. His real name is Hobart Brown, and he comes from an alternate universe called Earth-138. Instead of wearing the usual red-and-blue suit, he’s a punk rocker with a spiky mohawk, ripped clothes, and a guitar slung over his back. He’s not just fighting crime, he’s fighting corrupt governments and greedy corporations. He’s the type of hero who isn’t afraid to break the rules to do what’s right.

In the comics, Spider-Punk first showed up in 2015 in The Amazing Spider-Man #10, created by writer Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel. Fans love him because he’s rebellious, funny, and doesn’t take orders from anyone. He’s all about tearing down broken systems and standing up for the little guy.

Kaluuya brought the character to life in Across the Spider-Verse, which was the second movie in Sony’s animated Spider-Man trilogy. The first movie, Into the Spider-Verse, made over $394 million worldwide and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Across the Spider-Verse did even better, earning over $690 million and getting another Oscar nomination. The trilogy will wrap up with Beyond the Spider-Verse on June 25, 2027.

Sony’s also working on other Spider-Man projects. The next live-action movie starring Tom Holland, called Brand New Day, will come out on July 31, 2026. On top of that, Nicolas Cage will star in a Spider-Noir live-action series for MGM+, which is set to arrive next year.

For now, Spider-Punk’s solo movie doesn’t have a date, but with Kaluuya and Singh behind it, fans can expect a loud, bold, and unapologetically rebellious take on the Spider-Man story.

The news was first reported by Deadline.
