Steven Spielberg Unveils Chilling Alien Reveal in New ‘Disclosure Day’ Trailer
Universal Pictures has released a new teaser for the upcoming sci-fi film Disclosure Day, giving fans their first real glimpse at the aliens. The short promo marks a shift from earlier trailers, which kept the extraterrestrials hidden and focused more on the human side of the story.
The film is directed by Steven Spielberg, who is returning to the sci-fi genre after several years. According to the newly released footage, the story revolves around a long-held secret about alien life. In the teaser, Colman Domingo’s character Hugo Wakefield talks about exposing the truth, saying there has been a “79-year cover-up of the truth.” At the same time, Colin Firth’s Noah Scanlon warns that people may not be ready for it, stating that humanity wouldn’t be able to “accept what we know.”
The teaser moves quickly through several scenes. Josh O’Connor appears as Daniel Kellner, standing inside a crop circle. There are also shots of a spacecraft arriving and a moment where Daniel and Emily Blunt’s character Margaret Fairchild hold hands and say, “Whatever happens, don’t you let go.” Another scene shows two children lying in a bright room, reaching toward each other, while Hugo’s voice says, “It’s the two of you. It’s always been just the two of you.”

The teaser ends with a close moment between a child and an alien, as a long-fingered hand reaches out and touches her face. This is the first clear look at the alien design in the film.
This project is a return to familiar ground for Spielberg. His last sci-fi film was Ready Player One, and his last alien-focused movie was War of the Worlds. Earlier in his career, he directed well-known alien stories like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which are still highly regarded today.
The script for Disclosure Day was written by David Koepp, a long-time collaborator of Spielberg. The cast also includes Eve Hewson and Wyatt Russell. Spielberg is producing the film along with Kristie Macosko Krieger.
Disclosure Day is set to arrive in theaters on June 12. With the first look at the aliens now out, interest in the film is likely to grow even more as the release date gets closer.
