Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’ Featurette Unveils New Look at Emily Blunt’s Powerful Role
A new featurette for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming science fiction film Disclosure Day has been released, giving audiences a fresh look at the movie ahead of its theatrical debut. The information comes from official promotional material shared by the studio and entertainment industry reporting covering the film’s production and marketing rollout.
The film is directed by Steven Spielberg and written by David Koepp, based on a story developed by Spielberg himself. It is set to be released in theaters on June 12, including IMAX screenings in the United States through Universal Pictures. The featurette highlights the main cast, mainly Emily Blunt.
Disclosure Day is described as a science fiction story centered on a UFO-related mystery and a global conspiracy involving powerful institutions. Emily Blunt plays Margaret Fairchild, a Kansas City meteorologist and former journalist who becomes involved in uncovering the truth behind unusual events. Josh O’Connor plays Daniel Kellner, a cybersecurity expert and whistleblower.
Colin Firth appears as Noah Scanlon, a powerful corporate leader tied to the Wardex corporation. Eve Hewson plays Jane Blankenship, Daniel’s partner and a former nun. Colman Domingo plays Hugo Wakefield, a defector who pushes for public disclosure. Wyatt Russell plays Jackson, Margaret’s partner.
The film’s development began in 2024 when reports confirmed Spielberg was working on a UFO-themed project based on his own original idea. David Koepp, who has worked with Spielberg on several earlier films, was brought in to write the screenplay. According to production notes, Koepp worked through dozens of script drafts while developing the story from Spielberg’s original treatment.
The cast was assembled throughout 2024, with Emily Blunt confirmed as the lead early in the process. She is joined by a large ensemble cast that expanded over several months, including actors such as Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Josh O’Connor, and Wyatt Russell. Additional supporting roles include Elizabeth Marvel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Elliot Villar, and others.
Filming for Disclosure Day took place from February to May 2025 across multiple locations in the United States, including New York, New Jersey, and Atlanta. Production was carried out under the working title Non-View. Several large-scale location shoots were reported, including urban streets, rail lines, and staged public environments designed for crowd scenes and government-related settings.
The production also brought back frequent Spielberg collaborator John Williams, who is set to compose the film’s score. This marks another long-running partnership between the director and composer, continuing a collaboration that has lasted decades across some of Spielberg’s most iconic films.
According to studio information, Disclosure Day is intended for a wide IMAX release and is currently scheduled for June 12. The release date was moved from an earlier planned date in May 2026, but the summer launch remains part of Universal Pictures’ major lineup for the year.
The newly released featurette focuses on introducing the tone of the film and its central characters. Emily Blunt’s character is presented as someone with a unique ability that places her at the center of a global mystery, while other characters are shown dealing with government secrecy, corporate control, and scientific discovery.
With Spielberg directing and a large ensemble cast, Disclosure Day is being positioned as one of the major science fiction releases of 2026.
