‘Super Mario Galaxy’ Movie Trailer Reveals Yoshi — and a New Release Date
Nintendo has shared new details about its next animated film set in the Mario universe. The update came through a special online presentation focused on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Fans were given fresh information about the project’s progress and a preview of what to expect when it arrives in theaters.
During the event, Nintendo confirmed that the movie has finished filming and is now in post-production. This means the main animation and voice work are done, and the team is now focused on final edits, sound, and visual polish.
A new trailer was also released. One of the biggest highlights was the first official on-screen appearance of Yoshi. While the character’s involvement had been hinted at before due to early merchandise leaks, this marked his first proper reveal in motion. The trailer also showed Birdo, confirming that another familiar character will join the story.

Nintendo also announced a change to the release schedule. The film was previously expected to open on April 3, but that date has been moved forward. The movie is now set to premiere on April 1, two days earlier than planned.
The voice cast includes several well-known names. Chris Pratt returns as Mario, with Anya Taylor-Joy voicing Princess Peach. Charlie Day is back as Luigi, and Jack Black reprises his role as Bowser. Other cast members include Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., and Brie Larson as Rosalina.
The updates suggest Nintendo is confident in this sequel. Bringing in fan-favorite characters like Yoshi and Rosalina should help keep interest high, especially for longtime players of the games. Moving the release date earlier also signals strong expectations for the film’s performance.
