‘Superman’ Behind the Scenes Photo Reveals Why the Superman & Supergirl Team-Up Is Already Exciting
Milly Alcock is set to star in her own Supergirl movie coming out in 2026, but she has already made her debut in the DC Universe (DCU) with the recent Superman film. Fans got a glimpse of Kara at the end of the movie when she arrives to pick up her dog, Krypto. In that brief moment, Supergirl seems a bit drunk and even calls Superman a “b****.” Clark explains that she’s been partying on planets orbiting a Red Sun because she can’t get drunk on Earth due to the effects of the Yellow Sun on Kryptonian metabolism.
Even though their screen time together was short, many fans have noticed the strong chemistry between Superman, Supergirl, and Krypto. A newly released behind-the-scenes photo captures this connection perfectly, making fans even more excited about the possibility of a team-up.

This team-up could be coming sooner than expected. Before the Superman movie even hit theaters, David Corenswet, who plays Superman, revealed that he signed a contract for multiple appearances.
Around the same time, James Gunn, the director of the movie, shared that a sequel is already planned. However, it won’t be a simple continuation but could be a team-up film instead.
Gunn recently said he’s already working on the script for this next movie. Warner Bros. boss David Zaslav also confirmed that Gunn will both write and direct the next film, which he described as part of the “Super-Family.”
As for Milly Alcock’s Supergirl movie, the movie is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira. Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham.
The story follows Supergirl on a galaxy-spanning revenge mission. The film is produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios.
The idea for a Supergirl film started back in August 2018 as part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Supergirl was first introduced in the 2023 film The Flash, played by Sasha Calle. When Gunn and Safran took over as co-CEOs of DC Studios in 2022, they changed plans for the standalone project.
The new Supergirl movie was announced in January 2023 under the title Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, based on a 2021-22 comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Ana Nogueira joined as writer in late 2023, and Alcock was cast early in 2024 to debut in Superman. Filming took place from January to May 2025 in the UK, and by June 2025, the subtitle was dropped.
Warner Bros. Pictures plans to release Supergirl in the US on June 26, 2026. It will be part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
This means fans have a lot to look forward to with Milly Alcock’s Supergirl movie and the upcoming Superman team-up film. The DC Universe is clearly gearing up to bring these iconic heroes together in exciting new ways.
