Sydney Sweeney Leads Cast in New Trailer for Psychological Thriller ‘The Housemaid’
The first trailer for The Housemaid has been released, giving audiences a look at the upcoming psychological thriller.
Directed by Paul Feig and written by Rebecca Sonnenshine, the film is based on Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel.
The story stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie Calloway, a housemaid, and Amanda Seyfried as Nina Winchester, the wife of Brandon Sklenar’s character, Andrew Winchester. Michele Morrone plays Enzo, a groundskeeper, while Elizabeth Perkins appears as Evelyn Winchester, Andrew’s mother. Mark Grossman rounds out the main cast as Scott Crawford, Millie’s first boyfriend.

The project is produced by Todd Lieberman for Hidden Pictures, with Paul Feig and Laura Fischer also producing. Both Sweeney and Seyfried are executive producers, joined by McFadden and Alex Young. The cast was announced between October 2024 and September 2025, with Morrone and Perkins joining later in the process.
Filming began in New Jersey on January 3 and wrapped in March. The movie was originally scheduled for release on December 25, but has been moved up to December 19, in the United States.
With the trailer now available, fans can get a first glimpse of the suspense and drama the film promises. The Housemaid looks set to combine a gripping story with a strong cast, making it one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year.
The cast alone makes this film worth watching, and the trailer shows a lot of promise for a tense, engaging story.
