Sydney Sweeney has always been in the spotlight, but she has kept much of her personal life private, until now. In a cover interview with Cosmopolitan published on January 29, 2026, the 28-year-old actress spoke openly about her long-term relationship with ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino. Their romance lasted seven and a half years, but Sweeney said they intentionally kept it out of the public eye.

“I was very private. No one would ever see us. I think it’s important to have some things for myself,” she explained. The couple first sparked dating rumors in 2018 and got engaged in 2022 before ending their relationship in March 2025. Sweeney said she wanted to experience love on her own terms, even while millions of people watched her every move.

Since the breakup, Sweeney admitted that getting back into dating has been challenging. “I spent months crying my eyes out,” she said. Having never used dating apps and finding it hard to meet someone casually like her non-famous friends, Sweeney described feeling uncertain about how to start over.

She also addressed the constant tabloid speculation surrounding her love life. “I wake up and I find out I’m dating a different guy anytime I stand in a room where there’s a single man,” she joked. While rumors connected her to music executive Scooter Braun and kept her linked to Davino in public, sources say she has moved on.

Her career, however, is thriving. Sweeney has been receiving major attention for her role in the psychological thriller The Housemaid, which came out in late 2025. Directed by Paul Feig and starring Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar, the film follows a live-in employee with a dark secret. Its strong box office performance has already led to a sequel being greenlit.

Sweeney also transformed physically for her role as boxing legend Christy Martin in the biopic Christy. She trained hard to gain strength and muscle, and critics praised her performance as both powerful and authentic. The film also explored Martin’s life outside the ring, showing both her professional victories and personal struggles.

Looking ahead, Sweeney has a busy 2026. She will start work on the Kim Novak biopic Scandalous!, directed by Colman Domingo, and she has joined the cast of Netflix’s live-action Gundam film. Fans are also eagerly awaiting her return as Cassie Howard in the third season of Euphoria, set to premiere on April 12. Additional projects like the sci-fi reboot Barbarella and the thriller Echo Valley are also in her pipeline.
