Sylvester Stallone, 79, recently showed he hasn’t lost his flair for fun, romance, or a little Hollywood mischief. The actor delighted fans and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, 57, with what looked like a surprise trip to Italy—but it was really a clever movie set in Georgia.

The playful stunt happened while Stallone took a break from filming the fourth season of his hit Paramount+ series, Tulsa King. The production team had transformed a Georgia backlot into a convincing European village, complete with cobblestone streets, rustic shops, and weathered stone paths. Dressed in a sharp blue striped suit, Stallone teased his wife, saying, I told you I’m gonna take you on a long vacation in Italy.

Flavin laughed along, clearly in on the joke, as Stallone admired the work of the crew. They did an amazing job, didn’t they? he said. Then, leaning into the humor, he added, So, should we try and find some gelato? The moment highlighted the couple’s playful dynamic and their decades-long bond.

Stallone has been busy on multiple fronts. Tulsa King continues to draw strong viewership, with Stallone reprising his role as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, an exiled mob boss rebuilding his empire in Oklahoma. The series is filming across locations in Georgia, including Midtown Atlanta and the city of Winder, which doubled as the Italian village for this recent stunt.

Outside of television, Stallone recently announced a new project, John Rambo, a prequel exploring the early life of his iconic character before the events of First Blood. Noah Centineo is set to play the younger Rambo, while Stallone will serve as executive producer. Rambo has been part of my life for a very long time. Now we’re going back to where his story begins, Stallone said.

He is also set to star in The Epiphany, a crime thriller directed by William Eubank, playing a soon-to-retire Philadelphia detective teaming up with a younger cop and a former priest to hunt a serial killer.

Between Tulsa King, his reality show The Family Stallone, and his film projects, Stallone shows no signs of slowing down as he nears eighty. His playful Italian ruse in Georgia and his work on high-stakes roles prove that he still knows how to balance humor, romance, and action.

Stallone fans, what do you think about the upcoming Rambo prequel? And do you feel Tulsa King is Stallone’s best role in recent years? Share your thoughts in the comments.
