Family Guy (Franchise)
Family Guy is an American animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane that follows the Griffin family living in Quahog, Rhode Island. The show premiered in 1999 on Fox and is known for its cutaway jokes and satirical humor about American culture. It was briefly cancelled in 2002 but returned in 2005 after strong DVD sales and rerun popularity, and it has remained on air since then.
Over the years, the series has received both praise and criticism, including debate over its use of controversial humor, while also earning major recognition such as an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series. The franchise has expanded into many tie-in projects, including DVDs, video games, books, and spin-offs.
One of its spin-offs is The Cleveland Show, which aired from 2009 to 2013. Another spin-off series centered on Stewie was announced in 2026, showing the continued expansion of the Family Guy universe.
