Firefly (TV series)

Firefly is a 2002 space-Western drama created by Joss Whedon, following the nine-person crew of the spaceship *Serenity* as they navigate life on the fringes of a futuristic star system in 2517.
Although the series was canceled by Fox after only 11 of its 14 episodes aired, it developed a passionate fanbase, won an Emmy, and was followed by the 2005 film *Serenity* and other franchise media.
In March 2026, star Nathan Fillion confirmed that an animated *Firefly* series was in development, continuing the beloved story in a new format.
