Maelstrom (Film)

‘Maelstrom’ is a Netflix action thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Carry-On’), with Keanu Reeves set to star as a Federal Marshal guarding the fiancée of an arms dealer who is seeking witness protection before she testifies against him. Over a single evening, a hurricane cuts off all communication and blocks reinforcements, forcing the two to fight off the dealer’s men while the storm rages outside, a premise once described as ‘Die Hard’ in a hurricane. The project began as a spec script sold to Warner Bros. in 1993 and was revived by Netflix, with Reeves replacing Alan Ritchson, though no release date, production start or co-star has been announced.
