PUBG (franchise)

‘PUBG’ (short for ‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’) is a battle royale game from South Korean publisher Krafton that launched in 2017, dropping up to 100 players onto an island to scavenge weapons and fight until only one survivor is left. It helped popularize the battle royale genre, sold more than 75 million copies before going free-to-play and holds seven Guinness World Records, though the game itself has no storyline. Krafton has treated it as a connected universe since announcing film and TV plans in 2020, and its entertainment arm LV3H is now developing the live-action Netflix series with Donald Glover.
