Stargate (Franchise)
Stargate is a military sci-fi franchise that began with the 1994 film directed by Roland Emmerich and later expanded into a long-running universe owned by Amazon MGM Studios. It centers on a device called the Stargate, an alien portal based on wormhole theory that allows near-instant travel across space. The franchise grew into multiple TV series, including Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, and Universe, along with films, books, comics, and games that expanded its story. Across all formats, it built a large shared universe spanning more than 15 years of continuous storytelling before television production ended in 2011.
